Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Electrified Automation, Unit 4 Beech Business Park, Bridgwater, Somerset
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join the team to support our customers with their electrification ambitions.
The role will oversee all mechanical design activities whilst co-ordinating with the rest of the engineering group to deliver robust and innovative solutions.
What skills do you need?
Ideally, you will have obtained a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with significant experience in mechanical design, particularly in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Extensive experience in mechanical design and simulation software such as SolidWorks, CATIA or Siemens NX
- Proven experience with FEA tools such as ANSYS
- Strong understanding of materials and manufacturing processes
- Proficiency in 3D modelling, GD&T and creating detailed technical drawings
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Experience in managing and leading engineering projects
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Experience with Office365 software
- Machine shop experience is highly desired
- Experience in electro-mechanical product development is advantageous
What does a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer do at Electrified?
As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, the day-to-day responsibilities involve designing, simulating, and testing new mechanical components and systems. This includes using advanced software tools to create and analyze detailed 3D models and technical drawings.
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer works closely with other engineers and teams to ensure successful product development, maintaining accurate records of designs and modifications, and identifying and troubleshooting issues during the design and testing phases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, simulation, and testing of new mechanical components and systems
- Utilize advanced CAD and FEA tools to develop and refine designs
- Create detailed technical drawings for manufacturing
- Collaborate with other engineers and teams to ensure the integration and success of mechanical designs
- Maintain accurate records of designs, modifications, and test results
- Identify and troubleshoot issues during design and testing
- Conduct research to stay current with new technologies and advancements in mechanical design
- Work with the machine shop to fabricate prototypes and test fixtures
- Mentor and guide junior engineers
